EV Power Australia is one of the first companies to sell parts specifically for electric vehicles.
RODNEY DILKES - DIRECTOR
Rodney Dilkes has a B.App.Sc. in Electronic Technology (Curtin Uni) and initially worked in the IT industry eventually becoming an independent contractor to BP in the UK. In 1990 he decided on a sea change and co-founded a ceramics business in country Western Australia. He was drawn to electric vehicles as a hobby in the late 1990s. Inspired by Jim Lissiman, one of WAs electric vehicle pioneers, he converted a small car to run on battery power which became the first EV in Australia to utilize Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries.
Rod founded EV Power Australia in 2006, an internet business specializing in electric bicycle kit sales and Thunder Sky Lithium Phosphate batteries.
Rod has built two road going electric vehicles and also owns electric bicycles, golf cart and an electric scooter. In 2009 he designed, supplied and installed the complete battery system, instrumentation and hub motor for the Willetton Senior High School Solar Car which successfully participated in the World Solar Challenge.
In 2009 Rod was a founding director of EV Works Pty Ltd, a comprehensive electric vehicle parts supply and conversion company.
Rod reached an amicable settlement with EV Works and departed in June 2010 to rebuild EV Power Pty Ltd with a focus on LiFePO4 batteries, BMS and charging.
