On 21st August 2011 Glen George -with assistant Wendy Ward- embarked on a journey into the record books as the first man to circumnavigate Australia by road in an electric car. He successfully completed the trip on November 13th 2011 arriving to rousing applause from a crowd of well wishers at Parliament House in Perth.

Traveling up to 250km per day he recharged his battery driven 1950’s MG from renewable electricity sources wherever possible and tally his carbon count whenever he could not. His race to be responsible for as little carbon as possible on his journey is the gauntlet thrown down to future racers.

Interestingly Glen uses the EV Power Lithium Battery Management System and batteries supplied by EV Power two years ago.

Says Glen- "I cannot believe the number of people I have encountered on this trip who say I got my e.v stuff from Rod [EV Power] . Especially your BMS. Mine (both) going like a boing. No problems at all."

Simple battery management works and Glen is living proof of it. The EV Power BMS has been an enabling technology for hundreds of early EV adopters in Australia and thousands worldwide.

Each year EV Power sponsors the River Raiders Racing team in the WA EV Challenge. We provide batteries, motors and expertise to get the cars on the track.

The event was held for the first time this year on a proper race track at the RAC driving centre and was an exciting affair. Each team has to design, build and race an electric car for a one hour timed endurance event. It is both a technology and driver skill challenge.

This year the River Raiders Racing team won the main (C Class) event and took the trophy for the most laps on the day. It is an example of our knowledge and commitment to alternative transport.
