An exciting project is in progress. A network of Electric Vehicle Fast Charging stations between the capital Perth and iconic tourist destination Margaret River 270km away in south west WA.
The project is being overseen by the University of WA which is at the forefront of electric vehicle research having built two road going EVs and overseeing the WA EV Trial.
Currently in the planning phase this project will see the installation of fast charge facilities at key locations on the highway between the two centres.
This is a first for Australia and one of the first of its type in the world. It will mean that EVs will have range extension to allow long distance touring and commuting. With petrol prices inexorably rising EVs can travel for a fraction of the cost and less environmental impact than fossil fueled cars.
