Description

Many modern chargers, especially for electric vehicles, use the J1939 CAN protocol to enable charging. They will not operate without the correct signals present.
This small device provides a charge curve to the charger for any battery chemistry. It will send the correct J1939 signals to the charger for charging.

Notes:
– 5 Stage Charging (IU1U2o equivalent), Recovery, Boost, Balance, Float(or Off), Recycle
– Remote Enable (ON/OFF/Charge Current) Input.
– 250kBPS CAN.
– May be coupled with the CANcharge Configurator Screen (sold separately) to allow user display of charger data.
– Configurator screen also allows configuration of all charge parameters.
– DB9 connector for CANbus

The information required at order time is:

NO. OF CELLS = 1-255 = number of cells in series, note following values apply to cell level voltages, not battery totals.
EMPTY VOLT= 1.50-3.30 = voltage at which the cell is considered flat, recovery stage will charge to this voltage at a set trickle current.
NOMINAL V = 2.00-3.75 = voltage below which the charger will return to boost cycle. Recycle Charge.
FLOAT VOLT= 2.00-3.75 = Voltage to drop back to after the balance cycle. Boost amps will be applied to maintain this level thereafter.
BOOST VOLT= 2.50-4.25 = voltage target to which maximum amps is applied while boost charging.
BALANCE V = 2.50-4.25 = maximum cell voltage to complete charging, generally at a lower current than boost
Note: each stage voltage must be the same or greater than the previous stage.
EMPTY AMPS= 0-99.9 = amps at which to charge during recovery stage (flat battery) until the empty voltage is attained, generally a trickle charge.
BOOST AMPS= 0-99.9 = max amps at which the battery can charge in the boost phase, cannot exceed charger maximum.
BALANCE A = 0-99.9 = reduced current for balancing phase, also the tail current for boost phase (must reduce to this level before balance stage is entered)
RECOVERY T= 0-999 = max time in minutes for charging till empty voltage is attained. TImeout = switch off
BOOST TIME= 0-999 = max time in minutes once boost voltage is attained for current to drop down to balance amps level. Timeout = goto Balance stage
No time limit to reach boost voltage.
BALANCE T = 0-999 = max time for balance voltage to be attained. Timeout = go to Float Stage
FLOAT T = 0-999 = Time below Nominal Voltage in Float stage before return to Boost. 0 = switch off when Balance stage is finished.
NOTE: We have default values for LFP and NCM Chemistries.
